Optoelectronics was awarded the tender and has completed the project in August

The venture will have a plant in Xiamen, China, with production to begin in 2012 and it will cost as much as US$200 million over a four-year period.

Chang  also suggested that Epistar expects the LED Linear high bay light business — which currently totals about 20 percent of its sales — will gain momentum in the near future.According to Dr. Steven Berger, CEO of Crystal IS, DARPA selected them based upon the performance of their existing 265nm LEDs that leverage their proprietary aluminum nitride (AlN) substrate technology.”

The development will take place at the Crystal IS facility in Green Island, NY and will run in parallel with the company’s recently announced effort to produce large diameter AlN substrates.

It’s said that they have assembled a group of expert collaborators to make the project as successful as possible .These include industrial and university partners and a Cooperative Research Agreement with the Army Research Laboratory, administered by Dr. Wraback.

Crystal IS, Inc. is the market leader in the commercialization of ultraviolet light emitting diodes (UVC LEDs) on aluminum nitride substrates for the cost-effective production of long lasting, energy efficient, water and air purification devices. It’s said that this project began as an open led high bay light tender called for by the municipal government. And the tender was open to bids in June, 2010. After evaluation by the authorities, Kingsun Optoelectronics was awarded the tender and has completed the project in August.
