ROAM provides Camelback Toyota outdoor luminaire monitoring and control through smart photocontrols (nodes) that diagnose fixture malfunctions and wirelessly communicate information to a central collection point or gateway. Data is transmitted to a Network Operations Center (NOC) via cellular uplink or Ethernet, with system owners/operators able to access luminaire information through a secure web portal from the Internet.
Michael Spector, Facilities/Inventory Director for Camelback Toyota, says there is no need to continuously check on the lighting fixtures or pay an auditing service person to confirm they are operational or require maintenance. “The ROAM system allows us to control lighting fixtures through a secure web portal rather than relying on inflexible control panels located in boxes installed throughout the parking lot," explained Spector.
From the web-based portal, Spector and his team have complete flexibility for scheduling, controlling and reporting. Andy Dickert, Deployment Manager for Acuity Brands Controls explains, "By design, the Camelback Toyota system is divided into two simple lighting groups, one that consists of twenty four, 400-watt lights in the front of the property and a second that comprises seventy-seven, 750-watt fixtures throughout the rest of the lot. This scheme gives Camelback the ability to manage lighting in relationship to its needs and desires."
Tally explains, "Many Arizona residents, especially during the summer, wait until sunset for outdoor activities to take advantage of the cooler temperatures. The ROAM system enables Camelback Toyota to schedule the appropriate lighting when and where it is needed in order to showcase its inventory and to ensure safety."

we expect significant strengthening of the market for sapphire substrates later this year
The near-term demand from the LED market continues to be limited, as inventory adjusts throughout the supply chain, but orders for two-inch and four-inch cores have begun to recover somewhat in the first quarter of 2012, and demand for large-diameter wafers for the Silicon on Sapphire (SoS) RFIC market is growing. As the channel inventory situation improves, and as LED technology further penetrates both the backlighting market and the general lighting market, we expect significant strengthening of the market for sapphire substrates later this year,” he said.
“We remain optimistic on the long-term outlook for the LED market and Rubicon’s positioning to capitalize on the opportunity. To date, Rubicon has shipped more than 230,000 six-inch sapphire wafers to the LED manufacturing and RFIC industries. This has provided us with the experience and scale to drive process and cost efficiencies throughout our system while maintaining our industry leading quality and service. Cost and quality leadership are instrumental to the acceleration of LED adoption in the marketplace and, as such, are strategic priorities for Rubicon,” Mr. Parvez concluded.
With the new price, the company expects that it will bolster both interest and investment in LED lighting. The company says cost has “everything” to do with how quickly energy-efficient technologies get adopted.Earlier, Noribachi launched LED Prix 2.0 an upgrade to its LED customization technology. The upgrade includes advancements in the thermal management of Noribachi’s custom retrofit bulbs and DLC certification for Noribachi’s key products. And in January, Sandia Resort & Casino in Albuquerque announced it expects to consume about a quarter the energy in its parking lots through switching hundreds of gas discharge lamps to Noribachi LED bulbs.

those subject to the greatest variance in input voltage
According to Seren, it has used a novel procedure to bring together low cost mass manufactured blue HBLED structures and nano-science to achieve a white HBLED with superior performance compared to current state-of-the-art products.
The brightness (efficacy) of current HBLEDs range from 60 to 120 lumens per watt (lm/W). Seren says adoption of this procedure could see mass manufactured HBLEDs with efficacies of around 200 to 260 lm/W.
Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD), a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete, logic and analog semiconductor markets, today announced the ZXLD1371 LED driver controller. By extending input voltage operation from 60V down to as low as 5.0V, the ZXLD1371 has been designed to handle as broad a range of applications as possible, including those subject to the greatest variance in input voltage, such as automotive lighting and 12V AC powered systems. Its ability to control an external driver FET in buck, boost and buck-boost driver topologies makes it an all-in-one solution, capable of driving as many as 20 high-current LEDs in boost mode with a high level of accuracy.
Employing patent pending control loops and single resistor high-side current sensing, the ZXLD1371 will deliver a typical output current tolerance of 1%, helping to produce improvements in brightness control and lamp luminance matching. The LED driver controller offers users dimming over a wide dynamic range, through separate 20:1 DC dimming and 1000:1 PWM dimming options, resulting in higher accuracy light control particularly at lower brightness levels.

the lighting efficiency of their products while keeping manufacturing costs down
Eulitha AG, a pioneer and leader in the production of high-quality nanostructures using advanced lithography techniques, today announced that it has signed a joint-development and licensing agreement with EV Group (EVG), a leading supplier of wafer bonding and lithography equipment for the MEMS, nanotechnology and semiconductor markets. EVG will integrate Eulitha’s PHABLE mask-based ultraviolet (UV) photolithography technology with EVG’s automated mask aligner product platform with the goal of developing a low-cost-of-ownership (CoO) nanopatterning solution to enable the production of high-brightness light emitting diodes (HB-LEDs). With demo capabilities in place already, the first products are expected to ship in 2012.
According to LED market research firm Strategies Unlimited (Mountain View, Calif.), the market for high-brightness LEDs is expected to grow from $11.2 billion in 2010 to $16.2 billion in 2014, driven by applications such as TV backlighting, mobile devices and increasingly by lighting. To meet this increased demand, LED manufacturers need new manufacturing solutions that can increase the lighting efficiency of their products while keeping manufacturing costs down. Through their joint-development agreement, EV Group and Eulitha will explore new manufacturing technologies that support LED manufacturers’ cost and technology requirements.
Combining Eulitha’s full-field exposure technology with EVG’s well-established mask alignment platform provides low-cost, automated fabrication of photonic nanostructures over large areas, and supports the production of energy efficient LEDs, solar cells and liquid crystal displays. It combines the low cost, ease-of-use and non-contact capabilities of proximity lithography with sub-micron resolution—making it ideally suited for use in patterning sapphire substrates in order to enhance the light extraction (and thus the efficiency) of LED devices. EVG plans to offer a PHABLE enabled EVG620 system as an extension to its well-established mask alignment system platform, giving customers an even wider choice of configuration options.
We look forward to working with EV Group to greatly accelerate commercialization of PHABLE? through the integration of this novel technology with EVG’s industry-leading mask aligner platform,” stated Harun Solak, CEO of Eulitha. “We believe the synergies of our respective technologies have great potential to provide the resolution and volume-production capabilities of led linear lighting lithography steppers at a fraction of the cost—enabling LED, optics and photonics manufacturers with extremely tight cost constraints the opportunity to extend their technology roadmaps to higher levels of performance.”

the maintenance of LED light because the similar problem in other project
According to an official, when the directives were given to the CDA, some official are concerned about the huge cost of the project. The estimated cost of the project was over Rs 6 billion and it would cause a huge lose to the national exchequer, in case of a failure. Some high-ups of led high bay light also showed concern about the maintenance of LED light because the similar problem in other projects. “Currently, the CDA electrical maintenance wing has no technical staff to for the purpose.”
He said the CDA was paying an amount of around Rs 120 million per month on electricity bills and unable to disburse the overdue amount to the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO). “The IESCO has several time disconnected power supply of the CDA due to huge overdue bill,” he said.
The official said the cost for running and maintaining the streetlights had increased by 30 to 40 per cent in the last couple of years, and these figures did not include the salary of the 400 employees, who were part of the electrical maintenance wing. The non-development expenditure crossed Rs 6 billion while the authority earned only Rs2 billion through taxes, due to which the CDA is coping with severe financial crises.
In terms of regional performance, Taiwan still topped the market with a total output value of US$4.54 billion in 2011 -- including those of the upstream epitaxial wafers -- although the figure declined 0.4 percent from last year's US$4.56 billion.

LED lights will last longer than conventional high bay lights
ADB has agreed to part-fund KMC's LED project in the first leg of phase II of the Kolkata Environment Improvement Project (KEIP).From February, work on installing LED lights will begin in Bidhan Sarani, led high bay light, Amherst Street, Loudon Street, Camac Street, Bondel Road, Ballygunge Circular Road, Gurusaday Road and Alipore Road, among other streets.
Work is expected to complete by July, said a KMC lighting department official. "Initially, we have decided to install 15,000 LED lights. It will cost us Rs 50 crore. Since we wanted to install environment-friendly lights, we opted for LED," said municipal commissioner Arnab Roy.
LED lights' energy efficiency drove KMC to opt for it. According to a senior KMC official, the new technology would save at least 40% energy.
According to an estimate, the KMC lighting department has to pay CESC Rs 4 crore every month for lighting around 2 lakh street lights. "Apart from lowering this bill, LED lights will last longer than conventional high bay lights. Going by an assurance from the multinational company, the new lights will have a 70,000 hour lifespan," said Manzar Iqbal, KMC's present member, mayor-in-council (lighting).
Work is expected to complete by July, said a KMC lighting department official. "Initially, we have decided to install 15,000 LED lights. It will cost us Rs 50 crore. Since we wanted to install environment-friendly lights, we opted for LED," said municipal commissioner Arnab Roy.

Nichia is abusing lawsuits to interrupt fair competition on free market to its own advantage
All these courts ruled that the patent is invalid and the intellectual property court even ruled that Taiwan’s Intellectual led high bay light should revoke the patent certification it issued to Nichia.
Apart from complaining in the Japanese court, Everlight was releasing a news statement charging that Nichia is abusing lawsuits to interrupt fair competition on free market to its own advantage.

Epi-wafer maker Formosa Epitaxy Inc. is also estimated to benefit from the contracts to Unity since it is a close ally of Unity.
For Genesis , it has entered into alliance with IT retailer Potevio Co. to drum up business and won several one-year contracts for LED light tubes and commercial lights. Genesis executives estimated its contract with Petovio to push up the company’s monthly sales in the fourth quarter and become the major growth drivers of the company’s sales for 2012.

the new headquarters accommodates the rapid expansion of Lumenpulse
After the tour and welcoming speeches, over 500 guests were able to enjoy an evening of food, drinks and music. A four-piece jazz band entertained guests in the early part of the evening, before a song – specially commissioned for the event – was used as a transition to a led linear high bay light latter part of the event.
Located near the city’s Lachine canal, the facility combines a 20,000 sq.ft. office space and an adjoining 45,000 sq.ft. manufacturing facility where Lumenpulse fixtures or products are created. The office space is custom designed to reflect the Lumenpulse brand and culture, and is exclusively illuminated by Lumenpulse’s own award-winning architectural LED lighting fixtures.
The move to the new headquarters accommodates the rapid expansion of Lumenpulse, which has grown its personnel count by 112% over twelve months. The company was named to the PROFIT HOT 50 of Canada’s Top New Growth Companies in August and is focussed on addressing the growing worldwide LED fixtures market, which is estimated to reach $9 billion by 2014 according to Strategies Unlimited.
“We have experienced rapid growth as we continue to see increasing demand for our LED fixtures from around the world,” said Francois-Xavier Souvay, president, CEO and founder of Lumenpulse, “The new led high bay light exemplifies what Lumenpulse is all about—innovation, performance and the future evolution of light. Lumenpulse DNA runs through the building, and it positions us well to become the next architectural LED lighting global leader.”

market shares by exploiting its improved access to Asian markets
In his presentation, Günter Lauber, CEO of the SIPLACE teams, pointed out the rapid success of this integration, for which he credited in part the industry experience of the ASM group, which has for many years been a leader in the backend/chip assembly segment with its solution for waver and chip production. According to Lauber, thanks to the new owner’s decision to keep the led linear high bay light team in place along with its locations and its cluster organization, the company did not have to waste any time with restructurings in the current boom, but could focus on serving the needs of customers and markets. In a second integration phase, the SIPLACE team plans to gain additional market shares by exploiting its improved access to Asian markets, lowering its costs through shared sourcing and expanding its solution spectrum through new R&D initiatives.
In his presentation, Joe Poh, who heads SIPLACE’s operations in China, underscored the central role SIPLACE China plays in implementing the company’s growth strategy. Joe Poh’s team plays a special role as both SIPLACE’s representative on its most important market and as a “bridge“ in the integration of the two companies. “With its German engineering, SIPLACE has been a recognized as the technology leader and the No. 1 on the European market for many years, while ASM Pacific Technology is the world leader in backend solutions thanks to its leading position in Asia. By taking care of our local customers as SIPLACE China, we want to make sure that SIPLACE becomes the world’s leading placement machine maker over the medium term,” said Joe Poh about the importance of the Chinese market and the SIPLACE organization’s role in it. To accomplish this, the company is further improving its direct and competent support for Chinese electronics manufacturers by expanding its network of sales offices, service centers and technology, training and application centers. SIPLACE is also developing new products in close cooperation with customers in China and the rest of Asia.
Herbert Hofmann, China COO of ASM Assembly Systems offered detailed insights into his company’s current developments and innovations. In response to the concrete challenges facing electronics manufacturers in the areas of new product introductions, setup changeovers and volume production, Hofmann presented the latest solutions developed by SIPLACE’s engineers. The spectrum of innovations ranges from NPI solutions such as SIPLACE Smart Pin Support or SIPLACE Alternative Components to high-mix setup concepts such as Random Setup or Constant Table to general efficiency improvements with led high bay light, SIPLACE LED Pairing or SIPLACE Nozzle ID Scanning. Hofmann underscored several times that modern SMT solutions are increasingly based on intelligently intertwined hardware, software and service components and that the SIPLACE team succeeded in making significant progress over its competitors in these fields in recent years.
