SemiLEDs Chairman and CEO, Trung Doan said “Developing a fabrication facility in the NanHai Economic Development Zone will allow SemiLEDs to be in the center of the LED industry in China. This is especially true since NanHai has invested RMB $2 billion to support the industry’s development. The government provides great support and combined with the local industry it makes a perfect match.”
The establishment of its production facility in China allows SemiLEDs the opportunity to provide further service and support to a growing number of companies involved in Solid State Lighting throughout China while further increasing production to meet rapidly growing global demand. SemiLEDs is a major LED chip supplier to many packaging companies in China focusing on Solid State Lighting such as street lights, commercial and residential lighting.
Applied LED lighting technology specialist Dialight Plc. today announced that an agreement has been signed with a second major US telecom tower operator, for its LED white strobe technology. The commitment from the operator is to use Dialight’s unique LED technology for all new towers, all light replacements and repairs. Initial shipments have already commenced and the agreement will continue through at least the end of 2010. Dialight had announced in June a contract with another major US operator, and it said the combined volumes of product expected from the two contracts represent only a small percentage of the installed base of towers that could be retrofitted with its products, illustrating this significant market opportunity.
Currently the only product in its class, Dialight’s led high bay light dual strobe offers more than 10 years life expectancy and avoids the need for dangerous and expensive tower climbs to replace conventional light sources, according to the company.
